JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned two former ministers Monday for their alleged involvement in the embezzlement of Rp 11.3 billion (US$1.13 million) from the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry's Retirees Deposit Fund Foundation for oil and gas workers.

Former manpower and transmigration minister Cosmas Batubara and former energy and mineral resources minister Ginandjar Kartasasmita were both questioned in relation to the 2003-2008 case

"We are invited by the KPK to testify about a joint decree between the manpower and mining ministers in 1989 to establish the foundation," Comas told reporters after around three hours of questioning at the KPK building on Monday.

The foundation was liquidated in 2000 and a liquidity team was established to evaluate its total assets, valued at around Rp 134.4 billion and US$250,327, which were supposed to have been reported to the state.

Around Rp 11.3 billion of this money was allegedly embezzled by the former director general of industrial relationship management at the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry, Musni Tambusai, the sole suspect in the case. - JP
