em>Three foreign tourists are believed to have died after drinking home-distilled traditional arak liquor in West Nusa Tenggara and Bali over the weekend. The latest case in the recent rash of alcohol poisoning claimed its second foreign victim Monday, when a 48-year-old American woman was pronounced dead at Sanglah Central Hospital's ICU. The victim was identified as Rose Johnson, who lived on Jl. Hang Tuah 41 in the quiet tourist village of Sanur.

Your comments:
I too knew and dearly loved Rose Johnson; words are hard to describe how it feels to know of such a shocking passing for one of my most precious friends. She was my son's fairy godmother and an incredible inspiration to myself and my daughter with her wonderful art. Our whole family is rocked to the bones at her death, she was a precious lifeline in Bisbee, my husband's home town; I cannot imagine being there without her.

A portion of my world has lost the color she painted there. My prayer for Rose is that she may find the ultimate creative fulfillment in her crossing over, filled with the awe of understanding the greatest mystery we face as humans, and may the legacy she has left in her wake be a beacon, a comet for the centuries to come.

I will look for her swirls in the clouds and her depth in the lush and bountiful things of the earth. Blessed be, sweet sister, we will miss you.

Love to Leo, our prayers are with you too.

Libel defendant to sue doctors -- June 9, Online

Libel defendant Prita Mulyasari, who was sued after complaining over poor hospital treatment over the Internet, plans to sue three doctors over false testimony to the police. "We will report them for a crime. They did not give the correct testimony," Samsu Anwar, Prita's lawyer, said. Prita is currently standing trial, accused of defamation by Omni International Hospital in Serpong, Tangerang.

Your comments:
This case should become a landmark for an individual's freedom to complain about poor service from any institution, be it private or public. Prita Mulyasari should seek compensation for damages resulting from poor medical treatment and personal insult from Omni Hospital.

She should seek damages from the state for arresting her on false premises, as if she had committed a criminal act! She should not hesitate to seek a large amount of money as this may make other institutions think twice about taking action against individuals who complain about the poor service so common in Indonesia.

Israel will remain defiant -- June 8, Online

Israel's right-wing government will not easily bow down to international pressure to end its recurring hostilities against the Palestinians in the Middle East, an Israeli peace activist said here Monday. The international community's renewed efforts to expedite the peace process in the region following US President Barack Obama's landmark speech to the Arab world in Cairo - in which he promised a fair solution to the Middle East crisis - is likely to be met with failure if there is no change of power within the Jewish nation.

Your comments:
The article above reaffirms the arrogance of Israel. It amazes me that the United Nations, after years of incursions and occupation of Palestinian lands, has done little to discourage such actions.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon mentioned that he was "encouraged by Obama's speech" but has done little to stop Israel.

We know that the relationship between the Arabs and the Jews has its history. Both sides have reason to occupy the lands that were once taken or given to them.

Leaders on each side need to learn to compromise and to keep their egos in check.

It will be of no use in talks and negotiations if we can't give in to each other.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) lived together with Jews and Muslims and lived with them peacefully. Why can't the Jews live harmoniously with the Muslims?

They have every right to return and re-conquer their homeland. Just as Mecca and Medina were re-conquered by the Arabs from the Turks and just as the crusaders were driven from Syria, so the Hebrews should re-take Jerusalem and the West Bank.
