The 2009 Indonesia Cellular Show (ICS) ended on Sunday, with Nexian's NX-G900 proving the hottest commodity at the annual event.
For a price of Rp 999,000 (about US$100), customers took home the mobile phone, which is similar to a BlackBerry, as part of a bundled package along with a phone card provided by PT Exelcomindo Pratama, the nation's third largest mobile phone operator.
BlackBerry units meanwhile are at least three times more expensive. This has not prevented the hugely popular phones from being used by around 250,000 people in Indonesia.
The NX-G900 was actually introduced to the market in May, but dramatically gained in popularity during the event, according to Nexian mobile phone brand holder PT Metrotech Jaya Komunika.
So far, up to 70,000 units have been sold, with the company targeting the figures to quickly surpassed the number of customers using BlackBerrys.
