JAKARTA: The city's recent spate of fires carried on Tuesday, with the Happy Hollykids Kindergarten in the Bumi Bintaro Permai housing complex, South Jakarta, catching fire early in the morning.
Jakarta Police said the fire broke out at around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning by residents up for dawn prayers, who immediately called the fire department and the police.
Thirteen fire trucks from the South Jakarta Fire Department arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze that had razed most of the kindergarten building by 5 a.m.
Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Chrysnanda said no one was hurt in the incident, and added the Pesanggrahan Police were investigating the cause of the blaze and how much damage had been done.
Tuesday's incident was the latest in a slew of fires this year that now add up to 191 incidents, according to the fire department. - JP
