AMBI: Tebo regency branch of the state-owned electricity company PT PLN has suffered hundreds of millions of rupiah in losses due to rampant electricity thefts.
PLN Tebo head Budi Prasetyo said his company suffered Rp 890 million (US$89,000) due to the thefts between January and March.
Budi said the thefts were believed to have occurred in districts of Tebo Ilir, Sumay and Tebo Ulu.
"Many residents installed electricity illegally. We have warned the residents. We will deploy a team to investigate it."
