ANDARLAMPUNG: Dozens of foreign ambassadors are set to visit the tiger rehabilitation center at the Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation in the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Lampung, an official said Thursday.
Lampung Governor Sjachroedin Z.P. said the ambassadors will witness the release of a tiger, named Salma, into the national park, on Saturday.
"The visit of the ambassadors is part of the Krakatau Festival," Sjachroedin said.
He said the ambassadors will also look fro wild deer and buffaloes in the night. "In the festival, we do not just feature traditional art performances, but also wild deer and a buffalo parade."
According to data from the provincial administration, the ambassadors from the United States, Germany, Romania, the Philippines, Hungary, Palestine, Poland, Greece, Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Singapore Belgium and Japan will participate.
"The visit of the ambassadors supports for the park. The park has been declared as a UNESCO world heritage site," the governor said.
Earlier, the Belimbing tribal community, which lives near the park, protested the planned release the tiger, as it had mauled several villagers.
