`Two die-hard fans make a loving tribute'

Koil's two most dedicated fans show their love and affection for their all-time heroes.

Jaka Kandaga and Vidi Nurhadi are two die-hard fans of Koil, one of Indonesian's leading, cutting-edge rock bands. Based on their love for the band, they initiated a tribute project to Koil.

The result is a free compilation album Kami Percaya Kau Pun Terbakar Juga (We Believe You Will Be Burned Too). The title is taken from the lyrics of "Senyawa Mesin", a track from Koil's self-titled 1996 album.

Following the band's move to make their songs available as free downloads, Vidi and Jaka have distributed this compilation for free online.

Behind the scenes, Jaka admits that this compilation is his biggest achievement so far.

"I want to do something I never did before as a fan. And this thing now is well documented for sure," says Koil's biggest fan, who is willing to travel the 15 hours from his hometown in Bandung to Kediri, East Java, just to see his heroes perform.

This crazy fan shares his passion with Vidi. "The hardest part was organizing things. It's our first experience in doing a music compilation. We were so poor in time management," remembers Vidi.

The albums success can be measured by the fact that one of the sites it was posted on crashed just a few days after it was posted in July.

"We just did something we really like. It all flowed like water; we didn't put lots of arrangement on the process. The spirit was that if you want to do something, just do it. Don't even think too much," adds Jaka.

"If you remember, there was a project in Bandung called 4Dischord. The tagline was *Do Your Part'. Well, I and Vidi just did that; we were doing our part. We just want to do something more than just buy the band's t-shirts or go to their concerts," he says.

The boys have done very well. If you share the love, visit their space on http://bakar2009.multiply.com for info where to download the re-interpretations of Koil's songs. You can find info about Koil at http://www.koil.tv
