AKARTA: To celebrate Idul Fitri, the Presidential Palace will be open to the public from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m on Sunday Sept. 20.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono will welcome visitors to the Palace after presidential staff, state officials and Vice President Jusuf Kalla are welcomed earlier in the day and the Idul Fitri prayer is conducted.
"On Sept. 20, as always in previous years, the President and First Lady will open the Palace to build good relations with the community," presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng said at a press conference at the Presidential Office on Thursday.
"The event with the community will begin at 2 p.m. and the Palace will be closed again at 5 p.m.," he added. The public can enter the Palace through the State Secretary office entrance.
Andi said food and beverages would be served to visitors, who are asked not to bring bags or cameras into the palace.
He added that the President would receive family and close neighbors at his private residence in Cikeas, West Java.
