AKARTA: The Car-Free Day program was conducted along a 2.5-kilometer stretch of on Jl. Pemuda, between Arion junction and Jl. Pulo Lio, , East Jakarta, for the first time in that area, on Sunday.

The first car-free program in East Jakarta took place on Jl. Pramuka, which runs adjacent to the border between East and Central Jakarta, and residents from local subdistricts such as Jati, Rawamangun and Jatinegarakaum used the opportunity to get acquainted with their neighbors.

"On Jl. Pemuda, the people of East Jakarta got together with their neighbors to enjoy the Car-Free Day. The program not only improves air quality, but also facilitates the community in getting to know each other," East Jakarta mayor Murdhani said, as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Sunday.
