ADANG: The BMKG has revised the strength of the Sept. 30, 2009 earthquake that devastated most of West Sumatra.
"The latest update shows that the quake was 7.9 on the Richter scale, not 7.6," said M. Taufik, head of the weather agency in Padang, West Sumatra, on Saturday.
He said that five minutes after the quake hit at 5:18 p.m., the BMKG stated it was 7.6. "The data continued to develop and we revised the quake's magnitude to 7.9."
