refer to a letter about Ahmadiyah in this newspaper on Oct. 19. The writer, Sajid, from Canada gave his explanation of the difference between mainstream Muslims and Ahmadi Muslims but if The Jakarta Post would allow me to share my two pennies worth, I will try to explain the difference as best as I possibly can.
First of all, the title Muhammadan is given to Muslims by some organizations to willfully distort the name Muslim given by Allah (Allah is the preferred name of God), the Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Muslim is derived from the word Islam. Islam in its true meaning as described in the Holy Koran is "peace".
That is, a Muslim person is in peace with Allah and all of His creations. These creations include people of "All faiths". It also includes animals and all other forms of living organisms. Unfortunately, the majority of the Muslims have either forgotten the teachings of the Koran or simply have not understood the Koran properly. This is because they are not righteous people.
The Koran in its very beginning states, "Koran is a Perfect book" which can not be doubted, and is guidance for the righteous only *2: 3*. Other people (Muslims or non-Muslims) can read it but would not benefit from it unless they became righteous.
Alas many Muslims today have not understood this very basic rule of the Koran, let alone understanding the rest of the Koran. And perhaps the reason why they murder other humans, in the name of jihad, with no remorse, and believe in their distorted minds that they are going to heaven for it.
Koran does not and will not teach murder of any innocent person for any reason. Rather, Koran says: Killing of one innocent person is, as if, you have killed all humanity. It does not allow killing for any cause, good or bad. It is allowed only during a war that has been imposed on you by transgressor(s) and you fight back only in self defense.
