ADUNG: Zoos operating in Bali were reminded not to aim for financial profit only, and to also commit themselves to conservation efforts.
"The zoos' management and staff, must play active roles in protecting and conserving the plants and animals," the Forestry Ministry's director general for forest protection and nature conservation Darori said Saturday.
Darori gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the 11th National Meeting of Indonesia Zoos Association in Seminyak.
Delegates from 34 zoos across the country participated in the gathering.
"Please bear in mind that the animals and plants in the zoos are the property of the state," he said.
