EMARANG: The Batang District Court in Central Java has approved a request filed by a man to change his sex.
Agus Widodo, 30, now officially is Nadia Ilmira, tvOne reported.
Agus underwent a sex change operation in Dr Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya, East Java, in 2005.
The verdict was handed down by the court Thursday.
The first transsexual to go public in Indonesia was Dorce Gamalama, a pop singer, actress, presenter and comedian.
Dedi Yuliardi Ashadi was born in Solok, West Sumatra, on July 21, 1963.
In her teens Dedi began to appear on stage in women's clothes, and took the stage name Dorce Ashadi.
