Julie Estelle goes back on her word

JAKARTA: After starring in horror movie Kuntilanak, young actress Julie Estelle vowed she would never act in another movie of this genre. But it seems that something has made her change her mind as she has taken on another role in upcoming horror movie Rumah Dara (Dara’s Home).

“At first, when I found out it was a horror movie, I wanted to reject the part. But, it turned out to be more than just a horror movie,” the 21-year-old actress said as quoted by news portal vivanews.com on Tuesday.

“I’ve never seen a film like this produced here. It has nothing to do with the mystical or evil spirits and ghosts,” she said, adding she had to gain more weight and tone her muscles for her part.

The movie, which was initially a short movie turned into a larger-themed work, is a slasher-cum-survival thriller, its producers say in the movie’s blog.

It was perhaps this turn of events that led Julie to change her mind and give the movie a second chance.

In this debut movie by Timo and Kimo — known as the MO Brothers, Julie plays the role of Ladya, one of the six people who has to escape bloody killings in a mysterious house.
