EDAN: A fire destroyed a house in Medan, North Sumatra on Monday, killing two little boys.

The victims, brothers Mario and Andi Putra, were at home alone when the fire razed the house on Jl. Teh in the Simalinggar housing complex.

The fire was believed to have been caused by a kerosene lamp, which was used due to an electricity blackout in the area.

Nurli Hutapea, the victim's mother, said at the time of the tragedy she was working at the Elisabeth Hospital Medan. Her husband was working in Pekanbaru, Riau.

Nurli said there have been recurrent power blackouts throughout the past two weeks.
