Yudhoyono lost for words on Megawati's achievement

B

OGOR: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono spent Sunday as an impromptu teacher for children at the Army Strategic Command (Kostrad) headquarters in Bogor.

The subject was history and Yudhoyono tested the children's knowledge on all five former presidents.

"Children, who was the first president?" he asked, pointing to a picture on the wall.

All answered "Sukarno."

Yudhoyono said Sukarno was the country's proklamator, as he proclaimed the nation's independence.

He went on to Soeharto, whom he called the father of the nation's development. Yudhoyono said B.J. Habibie, "was a science and technology expert". He called Abdurrahman Wahid the father of pluralism.

But when it came to Megawati Soekarnoputri, he fell short, saying she was "the daughter of the first president Sukarno".

When it came to himself, he only asked to the children, "Who is this?"

All the children said, "President Yudhoyono."

He did not give himself a moniker and went on to say that all the presidents fought to bring prosperity to the people.
