JAKARTA: The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) is demanding the government ban Hantu Puncak Datang Bulan (Ghost of Puncak Has a Period), the latest horror movie set to premiere on Feb. 4.
"MUI has learned that the film contains pornography and a violence scene of a beheading. We ask the government to ban it," Amirstah Tambunan, chairman of the MUI department for product assessment said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
MUI, he said, is afraid that the movie starring Andi Soraya could "hurt the younger generation's morality".
"We urged the Film Censorship Agency to retract the screening permit for Hantu Puncak Datang Bulan. MUI can also simply appeal to Muslims not to see the movie," Amirsyah said as quoted by detik.com. - JP
