Hotels plan Imlek fun to attract visitors

MEDAN: Hoteliers in Medan have arranged various entertainments to lure visitors during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Imlek packages will include musical entertainment and special menus.

J. W. Marriot, which has arranged a singer from Taiwan, has been fully booked for a month, according to public relations manager Handajani Susilaning Rahayu.

"J. W. Marriott Medan has 287 rooms, all fully booked for Imlek and Valentines," she told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

At Hotel Polonia, executive assistant manager Rayen Silaban said the upcoming Imlek holiday had improved occupancy rates although the rise was insignificant.

"New hotels have been sprouting in Medan and I'm sure the occupancy rise will also spread to those hotels." - JP
