Forum pushes for web closure

T

he North Sumatra Religious Harmony Forum *FKUB* has urged the government and relevant agencies to immediately close down the ayobertindak.com website, claiming it contains many anti-Islam messages.

The FKUB, made up of interreligious groups, claimed the website had caused anxiety for Muslims and harmed religious harmony.

The forum's head Maratua Simanjuntak said his group received information the site had been active on the Internet for a long time, easily accessed by the public.

"The ayobertindak.com portal has insulted Islam. Why is it still allowed to operate? This is a violation and it should be immediately closed and investigated," he told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

On the website, which has postings written by the portal owner, who has only been identified as Lina, published a story titled "I will never give up until Indonesia is free of Islam".

In the article, posted on Jan. 24, 2010, she wrote that her blogs had been closed twice but she would never give up on delivering her message, this time through ayobertindak.com.

Medan chapter Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) head Muhammad Hatta called on Muslims to ignore the writings and the website.
