OGYAKARTA: US President Barack Obama will visit Gajah Mada University during his trip to Indonesia, an organizer says.
Obama will be in the country from March 20 to 22. The Yogyakarta leg of his visit is expected to take place on March 21, says Wiendu Nuryanti.
He is expected to also visit the Yogyakarta Palace and Borobudur Temple while in the area.
Wiendu has been designated to head a conference, "Local Wisdom, Global Solutions", in October.
The conference, featuring a former US vice president as one of the keynote speakers, will confer a posthumous award on Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, for her tireless efforts in the field of economic anthropology and rural development.
"Obama's mother proved herself in the field when she did research in Central Java," Wiendu said.
