Pasha Ungu convicted for abusing ex-wife

OGOR: The Bogor District Court sentenced Ungu band vocalist Sigit “Pasha” Purnomo one year’s probation and 10 months in prison for assault on his ex-wife Okie Agustina.

The 10-months incarceration sentence will be given to Pasha only if Pasha conducted another felony in the 12-month probation period.

“If in 12 months Pasha is found to violate the law, then he will be incarcerated as long as the time decided by the judges,” said member of the panel of judges Djoni Witanto as quoted by Antara on Friday.

The judges did not order Pasha to carry out the sentence considering that his children still needed Pasha’s presence.

“The crime began due to child custody — Okie and Pasha fought over the custody of the children. Therefore, we consider the children who still need both parents,” Djoni said.

Pasha said that he accepted the sentence. Pasha’s lawyers Michael Pardede and Rahayu said their client was shocked by the judges’ decision.

Okie’s lawyer Januar Saputra in the meantime was not satisfied with the judges’ decision.
He said that he would ask the attorneys to ask for an appeal. — JP
