AKARTA: Indonesian urban dwellers are encouraged to place their cities on the World Health Organization's (WHO) "1,000 Cities" map for the NGO's "1,000 Cities, 1,000 Lives Campaign".
The campaign aims to raise awareness on urban health, in accordance with World Health Day on April 7.
Nursila Dewi, WHO Indonesia's communications manager, said that the campaign would help cities exchange knowledge about initiatives to improve their condition.
"We are encouraging people to better their cities," she said.
Successful applicants will have their cities featured on the campaign's interactive map, which can be accessed at http://1000cities.who.int/.
According to Nursila, participants who want their cities on the map should hold events from April 7-11, 2010. "You may decide to hold an event such as a car-free or sewage cleaning day," she said.
