OUTH TANGERANG: The South Tangerang municipality said its will begin on Monday the selection process to appoint five members to its local Elections Commission (KPUD).
Selection team head Arif Subhan said his team would start receiving applications from would-be candidates on Monday.
"We will accept anyone as long as they meet the requirements," he said. The five selected members are expected to be sworn in on June 22.
Administration official Azhar M. Rahmansyah said 20 people had requested application forms as of Saturday.
"We expect them to return the forms by Monday *today*," he said.
The commission will help the municipality, established in 2008, hold its first ever mayoral election in November.
Head of the South Tangerang Population and Civil Registration Agency, Chaerul Saleh, said his agency would have completed preparations for the elections, including collecting data on eligible voters, by early next month.
"We are about to complete data verification on the eligible voters," he said. - JP
