JAKARTA: With age comes wisdom, at least that’s what our parents keep telling us
AKARTA: With age comes wisdom, at least that’s what our parents keep telling us. But sometimes the roles are reversed, as singer Ari Lasso recently found out, with his 5-year-old son waging a vendetta war to help him kick a 20-year-old habit: smoking.
“When I finish eating and I cannot find my cigarettes; Abe [his son] hides them and breaks them into pieces,” he said laughing.
“I’ve tried sneaking out to the garden for a puff but my son will catch me and say ‘Papa, what are you doing?’,” he said.
The former lead vocalist of the band Dewa 19 said he found it really hard to stop smoking.
“I had quit for seven months, but I was so busy with meetings in the last two weeks. And when someone else is smoking, I simply cannot resist [the temptation to smoke as well],” he said as quoted by kapanlagi.com on Sunday.
Ari said that ever since he had quit smoking, his appetite had increased, but he balanced that with more exercise.
Ari added that he had fewer bouts of allergies since he had stopped smoking. “I don’t cough as much, despite having a history of allergies,” he said. — JP
