Letter: Jakarta traffic chaos

O

ne should look at the bright side of the traffic chaos in Jakarta and the rest of Indonesia, namely that it makes invasion by a foreign army impossible. Invading tanks and trucks would get stuck in traffic jams and the soldiers would choke on exhaust fumes.

This means that Indonesia can disband its corrupt and ineffective army. Besides, after what 60 years of Independence has done, who in his right mind would want to invade? The savings can then be used to subsidize cars, motorcycles and fuel so that even the poorest people can afford transport.

This would also add jobs in the manufacturing sector while improving the country’s defenses: A win-win solution for all.
