AKARTA: After a three-year hiatus from the silver screen, most of it served behind bars for drug abuse, veteran actor Roy Marten will star in a new film Selimut Berdarah (Bloody Blanket).

In the film, the 58-year-old will star as character called Professor Roy. He said that he could no longer be fussy in taking roles offered to him.

“If I don’t do it then who will? My generation has been pushed to the side,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com

He said he was currently thinking of producing a film about drugs, saying the idea came to him while serving his sentence.

Roy said hoped people would be able to learn from his life. “Getting away from drugs is not easy. So, don’t ever try drugs unless you want to be addicted.”

Roy was arrested twice in 2006 and 2007, both relating to drug use, and received sentences totaling 30 months in prison. — JP
