ornography suspect Nazriel “Ariel” Ilham has now entered a new custody in Bandung where he faces charges of violating the pornography law in a trial soon to follow.

Ariel is currently detained at Kebon Waru detention center under the custody of prosecutors. He was transferred Wednesday from the National Police where he had been held for almost four months.

Former Peterpan band frontman better known as Ariel, arrived at the detention center at around 6:30 p.m.

“We have asked Ariel to adapt himself to the environment in Kebon Waru,” said detention center warden Surahman in Bandung on Thursday.

Ariel will occupy a relatively new cell in Block B with four other inmates sleeping on carpet.

Suharman said Ariel, despite his celebrity status, would not get privileged treatment.

He said Ariel, like other inmates, had to obey the rules although Ariel, he said, would not be required to wear an inmate uniform as other convicts with his suspect status.

“He has agreed to the rules, such as not bringing a cell phone in to prison,” added Suharman.

Ariel should have been freed after a certain period of detention in Jakarta but with the police having completed and submitted the case files to the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office his detention has now been extended. “He will be held here until Nov. 8,” Suharman said.

Ariel’s case broke out in July after sex videos allegedly featured him and his two model girlfriends — allegedly his fiancee TV host Luna Maya and Cut Tari on a separate occasion — circulated the Internet.

The pornography law stipulates anyone who produces, makes, copies, circulates, broadcasts, offers, trades, loans or provides porn content can face up to 12 years in prison.

Beside pornography violation, he also faces charges with violating the law on electronic information and transactions, which punishes those who spread indecent images, and for violating the Criminal Code.

On his first day in Kebon Waru, Luna Maya visited him at 9 a.m. Suharman said Luna visited until 12 noon and took food for Ariel.

Ariel’s lawyer, Afrian Bondjol, immediately posted bail at the prosecutor’s office. “We have requested for bail with assurance from his family,” said Afrian.

Before heading to Kebun Waru, Ariel had stopped over at the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office where he hardly offered time to speak to the media. “It’s nice to be back in Bandung,” he said briefly.

Ariel was accompanied by Luna during the administrative process of handing over the case files at the office of the general crimes section head Rusmanto.

Rusmanto said Ariel’s case would be handed to the court 20 days after his detention in Kebon Waru.

“The trial will take place in Bandung because the case took place here,” added Rusmanto.

According to the case files received by the prosecutor’s office, despite the fact that Ariel had never confessed to be the man in the porn video, Ariel would still receive multiple charges.

Afrian said Ariel would have avoided detention had the case files not been submitted, as police detention would have ended at 3 a.m. on Thursday.
