Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta was ranked 22 among 100 major international airports in terms of combined passenger arrivals and departures.
The airport served 37.1 million passengers last year.
“Our position is so close to the Singapore airport, which serves 37.2 million passengers,” Angkasa Pura II president director Tri Sunoko told participants during a public discussion on problems associated with the airport in Jakarta on Thursday.
He said Harstsfield International Airport in Atlanta, US, topped the list with 88 million passenger arrivals and departures annually.
Soekarno-Hatta’s figure was a 15.2 percent increase from the year before when the world was hit by a major economic crisis.
“Other international airports failed to grow, or reported negative growth in that period,” Tri said.
This year, he said, Soekarno-Hatta airport was expected to serve 40 million passengers.

Your comments:

Perhaps we can change from the so-called “busiest airport” to the “most convenient airport”.

It’s good to have a rank of 22nd, but facilities should be improved, from toilets to immigration staff.

To be honest, this is quite surprising. I can’t help but have mixed feelings about this.
I know we’re improving here and there, however, it is too bad there are still some people (aka officials) who will not be bothered or rather do not want to take the initiative to improve facilities (or anything that has to do with “serving” the people).

I’ll take Jakarta’s airport many times over JFK and O’Hare.

Wow! One of the world’s busiest airports?
So, why isn’t the airport up to par with Changi, KLIA, O’Hare, JFK and LAX?

Unfortunately, the airport facilities are poor if we compare them with Changi, KLIA and Suvarnabumi. The three airports have five stars from the Skytrax assessment. However, Soekarna-Hatta still gets a disclaimer.
It should be noted that the majority of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta are domestic passengers. Our three neighbor airports mostly support international passengers. It would be more useful if Soekarno-Hatta follows Garuda Indonesia to try to get a good assessment from a rating agency like Skytrax.
