NGERANG: One worker was killed and seven others injured in a blaze that engulfed a paint factory in Duku Mangga village, Legok district, on Tuesday.
Legok Police chief Insp. Rachmad said that the deceased worker, Nurdin, 38, was trapped inside the factory along with the seven injured workers when fire razed the building.
“His co-workers managed to escape and suffered serious burns,” he said.
The seven injured were rushed to Al-Qadr Hospital in Karawaci.
Rachmad said the fire started at 10 a.m. and quickly engulfed the factory compound.
Firefighters put out the fire after two hours, requiring 10 fire engines.
“As of this afternoon, we are still looking into what caused the fire,” Rachmad said. — JP
