Haze disrupts flights in Riau

EKANBARU: Despite a decrease in the number of hotspots, the haze in Riau is getting denser and has disrupted flight schedules at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru.

The Pekanbaru Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded nine hotspots remaining, three in Rokan Hilir regency, four in Rokan Hulu and one each in Siak and Kampar regencies.

“Apart from firefighting efforts from the government, the drastic drop in the number of hotspots is likely due to the drop in temperature, which is nearing the normal level of 32 degrees Celsius,” Pekanbaru BMKG analyst Ardhitama said Friday. — JP
