One dead in Transjakarta accident

AKARTA: An 18-year-old student died after being hit by a Transjakarta bus on Jl. S. Parman in West Jakarta on Monday.

The victim, Zeera, was riding with her mother Sunjana on a motorcycle when the latter made an abrupt maneuver to avoid a pothole and entered the busway lane.

An Transjakarta bus then struck the motorcycle, knocking both riders off the bike.

Zeera was run over by the bus while her mother survived after falling onto the other side of the lane.

The victim died instantly and her remains were taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy.

West Jakarta Police traffic division head Comr. Sungkono said the victims were traveling from Jl. Latumeten to Slipi.

Police took the driver of the bus to the West Jakarta Police headquarters for questioning. — JP
