ANDUNG: Indonesian mountain climbers grouped in the Seven Summit Expedition team from Mahitala Parahyangan Catholic University have decided to reschedule their climb up mt. Denali in the United States from May 2012 to June 23 this year.
Team leader Sofyan Arief Reza said that the decision to climb earlier than planned was due to their condition, which was reportedly at its peak after topping Everest on May 20.
“The climbers are at their best condition at the moment. They should have no problem with acclimatization, so they can carry on to Denali,” Sofyan said during a get-together in Bandung after their arrival on Thursday.
The team comprises Sofyan, 28, Broery Andrew Sihombing, 23, Janathan Ginting, 23, and Xaverius Frans, 24.
Denali in Alaska is the last of the world’s Seven Summits the team will try to conquer after Carstensz pyramid, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Vinson Massif, Aconcagua and Everest. — JP
