EPOK: The University of Indonesia (UI) signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate with universities in four European countries: France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
University official Devie Rahmawati told Antara news agency that the deal was aimed at establishing cooperation on education, research, cultural diplomacy, lecturer and student exchanges as well as increasing foreign student exchange. Currently, the university has around 1,000 foreign students.
“We aim to increase this to 2,000. In our deal with the University of Toulouse in France, UI will send 70 doctoral students enrolled in double degree programs and 20 doctoral students to other universities across France,” Devie said.
This year, UI will also send 76 doctoral students to universities in Germany, England, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Russia, the US, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Devie said other deals the university continued to develop were the two- to three-month summer school programs by the School of Cultural Knowledge Science, which drew 50 to 100 participants from Asia and Europe. — JP
