our comments on the promise made by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) that it would comprehensively investigate other cases related to Muhammad Nazaruddin’s graft case:
As the KPK focuses on the terminal segment of the corruption-fighting campaign, we need aggressive and comprehensive efforts to revise and strengthen the central government internal control system.
Focus also is needed in developing new screening, vetting regulations in bidding and awarding government contracts by individuals whose official or party political membership and affiliation may lend towards collusion.
The Manpower and Transmigration Ministry must also be tasked to devise a system of education, recruitment, selection and evaluation of applicants and current government employees with a high level of integrity.
Raise the bar for would-be applicants and existing office holders. Nazaruddin’s case also shows that the current administration is unafraid to clean up its own house or party.

I’m in doubt whether the KPK will keep its promise and commitment in abolishing corruption.
I strongly agree with the extraordinary treatment of Nazarudin’s tiring, deliberate and high-cost capture. I think the KPK seems reluctant to seek the other graft suspects hiding, let’s say, in Singapore. Why?
I think the KPK is not fair.

I don’t think the KPK can resolve the Nazaruddin graft case. The KPK is weak when handling cases involving politicians, particularly from the ruling Democratic Party.
There is a conspiracy in our legal system. Not one of the law enforcement institutions has the integrity and dignity to do its job properly.
Bribery and corruption have become a tradition for our law enforcement institutions. Politicians, who have become like the vampires of our economy should face the death penalty.

This Nazaruddin frenzy will fizzle out like a damp firecracker, just like so many cases before it. The truth will not be revealed; justice will not be served and corruption will go on unabated. Only the media will have had some field days.

Nazaruddin is the key to many corruption cases.
The KPK’s seriousness in investigating him won’t only solve the other cases, but the institution will also regain the public trust.

Seriously I doubt the KPK’s capacity to keep its promise.

It’s good as long as Nazaruddin speaks the truth.
