City to provide special busway routes on holidays

us rapid transit operator Transjakarta will provide special routes for Jakartans spending the Idul Fitri holidays in the city.

Transjakarta management chief Muhammad Akbar said on Friday that the city would provide eight additional routes serving a number of tourist sites in the city, including Ancol Dreamland Park in North Jakarta, Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta and the National Monument in Central Jakarta.

“Many citizens are not leaving the city during the holiday and will likely spend their time at the city’s tourist sites,” Akbar said.

Akbar outlined the eight routes as: Blok M — Ancol, available from Aug. 29 to Aug. 31 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and from Sep. 1 to Sep. 4 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., stopping at Pecenongan, Juanda, Pasar Baru, Jembatan Merah, Mangga Dua, and Pademangan.

A Ragunan — Cililitan, from Sep. 1 to Sep. 4 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., stopping at Pancoran, Tebet, Cikoko and Cawang.

Pulo Gadung — Ancol and Kali Deres — Ancol routes, from Sep.1 to Sep. 4 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., stopping at Pasar Baru, Jembatan Merah, Mangga Dua and Pademangan

Pulo Gadung — Ragunan route from Sep. 1 to Sep. 4 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., stopping at Halimun, Setiabudi, Kuningan, Karet, Mampang Prapatan,

Duren Tiga, Warung Jati and Pejaten.

Ragunan — Harmoni route from Sept. 1 to Sep. 3 from 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., stopping at Hotel Indonesia, Sarinah and the National Monument.

Ragunan — Grogol route, from Sep. 1 to Sep. 4 from 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., stopping at Gatot Subroto, Semanggi, Senayan, Slipi, Kemanggisan and Tomang.

Pluit — Ancol route, from Sep. 1 to Sep. 4 from 7 a.m to 8.30 p.m. stopping at Harmoni, Pecenongan, Juanda, Pasar Baru and Pademangan.

“After Sep. 4, all routes will return to normal,” Akbar said.

Transjakarta will provide services only until 6:30 p.m. a day before the Idul Fitri holidays, which fall on Aug. 30 and 31.

On the first day of the holiday, Transjakarta will begin operating at 9 a.m. to allow its crew to perform the Idul Fitri prayers in the morning.

The Jakarta Sanitation Agency is also making special preparations for the holiday, deploying a total of 2,700 sweepers to clean the streets before the Idul Fitri prayer. The sweepers will be stationed at 726 mosques and open fields across the city.

Agency chief Eko Bharuna said the office estimated a total of 2,828 tons of garbage would be produced on Idul Fitri eve and the first day of holiday.

“The number is quite similar to that produced last year,” he said. Sweepers will also be stationed at tourist sites during the holidays.

The agency is also putting 648 garbage trucks on stand-by during the holiday.
