MATARAM: Volcanic activity at Mount Tambor was reported to have decreased but residents were told to remain alert
ATARAM: Volcanic activity at Mount Tambor was reported to have decreased but residents were told to remain alert.
Abdul Haris, an official at the volcano’s monitoring post, said that volcano was still at level 3 alert status.
“There have been no tremors today and people have restarted their daily activities,” Abdul said when contacted on Wednesday.
Despite the decrease in activity, a team from the Dompu administration has remained on the location as part of anticipatory measures.
Mount Tambora erupted in 1815, forming what is believed to be the biggest caldera in the world, at 7 kilometers in diameter and 1 kilometer deep.
