AKARTA: A 23-year-old doctor, Steven Wijata, was found dead on the ground floor of the Salemba Residence apartment tower in Central Jakarta on Saturday. He apparently fell from his apartment on the 24th floor.
The body of the recent graduate of the University of Indonesia (UI) School of Medicine was found at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
“We are still waiting for the autopsy results and haven’t been able to conclude whether there was foul play or if it was a suicide,” Central Jakarta Senen Police chief Comr. Iman Zebua said Sunday in Jakarta.
He added that the police had not received the autopsy results, although the procedure had been completed and Steven’s remains had been escorted to his hometown in Cirebon, West Java on Sunday morning.
Iman said the police had questioned two persons as witnesses in the case: Steven’s girlfriend and a security guard. Based upon their questioning they concluded that Steven did not have any problems with his family or his girlfriend.
