AKARTA: Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo is proposing the idea of formating a non-governmental agency to establish a standard for green buildings in the city.
He said that the agency would be tasked to inspect buildings and approve designs for green buildings in the city.
“Independent inspectors would create transparency in the issuance of green building permits,” Fauzi told reporters.
Earlier this year, Fauzi pledged to turn the nation’s capital into a greener and more environmentally friendly city, starting with the reconstruction of 42 school buildings across the city based on green concepts.
The City Hall and City Council buildings are currently undergoing reconstruction projects to make them eligible as green buildings according to standards set by the Indonesian Green Building Council (GBCI).
