AKARTA: A coalition of NGOs has accused the Transjakarta Busway operator of violating a regulation requiring all city-run public transportation to use natural gas.
The Citizen Coalition for Transport Demand Management said on Thursday that a Transjakarta feeder service launched earlier this week violated Bylaw No.2/2005 on air pollution control and Law No.32/2009 on environmental protection and management, which mandates the use of gas for all public transportation vehicles.
“All fifteen buses for the feeder service are running on diesel fuel,” said coalition chairman Azas Tigor Nainggolan.
“We suggest that the Transjakarta feeder service operator install converter kits in the buses. They are available for between Rp 10 million [US$1,120] and Rp 20 million per unit and they only take three days to install,” Azas said.
