ANDARLAMPUNG: West Lampung regency has given the go-ahead for operations to begin at a new airport in the area, in the hopes of boosting tourism, as well as easing humanitarian aid efforts in cases of natural disaster.
The airport, which occupies 50 hectares of land and is located at Seray village, Pesisir Tengah district, is equipped with a 974 meter-long runway, an apron, taxi way, administration building and a 1,800 meter road leading to the airport.
“We tested the runaway last week and we concluded that the airport is ready for operation,” Regent Mukhlis Basri said on Friday.
“The opening of the airport means reducing the sense of isolation in West Lampung. The airport can also be used in the case of a natural disaster,” he said.
