Jupe wants to face off with MUI

AKARTA: Dangdut singer Julia Perez says she wants to meet with the Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) after being called a porn actress by the council.

“I have to ask them what they are implying because I am accused of [showing] porn. I want evidence of where I [show] porn. I want to meet with the MUI immediately,” she said on Tuesday.

She said she is confused about why her performances are frequently banned when in fact her dance moves are not vulgar.

Julia Perez, commonly known as Jupe, was recently banned from performing in Palembang, South Sumatra, because she was on a list of seven dangdut singers considered vulgar.

“I just want to create. I’m not a terrorist, I’m not a corruptor. I do not want to get temperamental. I want to create and not be disturbed,” she said as reported by vivanews.com.
