AKARTA: Eight militants allegedly part of a terror cell blamed for the Cirebon bombing stood trial on terrorism charges on Wednesday at the Tangerang District Court.
The defendants are Ari Budi Santoso, Arifin Nur Haryono, Jakim, Edi Tri Wijayanto, Echo Ibrahim, Hari Budiarto and Dzulkifli Lubis.
The eighth defendant, Ishak Andriana, was absent for unspecified reasons, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.
The defendants were reportedly connected to Sigit Qordhowi and Hendro Yunianto, the terror suspects shot dead by officers from the National Police’s Densus 88 counterterrorism unit during a raid in Sukoharjo, Central Java, in May.
Sigit and Hendro are wanted by the police for the church and Kliwon market bombings in Surakarta, Central Java. The police also suspect the pair were involved in the Cirebon suicide bombing.
