SIngapore: Light up your Christmas in Singapore

S

now-capped alps or a chilly winter wind may be lacking, but Singapore is a blast when it comes to celebrating the Season of Giving.

Christmas by the River, a different kind of Christmas celebration by the Singapore River, has grown into one of Singapore’s must visit locations during December. And with combined efforts from nearby entertainment and hospitality outlets like Clarke Quay, Central, Riverside Point and Swissotel Merchant Court, it’s easy to understand why.

Feast your eyes as the whole of Singapore’s riverbank magically transforms; and beautiful thematic decorations, dazzling displays of larger than life structures, enchanting lights and splashes of significant gold and blue light up the river.

See street performers go wild with their magical characters, enchanting the crowd with their enthralling antics. Be serenaded by the beautiful voices of a cappella carolers while marveling at colorfully decorated LED kites swooping through the air.

As it is every year, no Christmas by the River is ever complete without memorable photo-taking sessions of the magnificently decorated bauble tree and Christmas Village. With Santa Claus, Santarina and their family of elves plus angels and fairies prancing around in the Magical Parade, the whole spectacle is truly a sight to behold.

Enjoy the best view of Christmas by hopping onto the World’s largest Giant Observation Wheel – the Singapore Flyer. Themed “Toys Come Alive @ Singapore Flyer”, the whole attraction transforms into a fantasy toy land, complete with toy soldiers, teddy bears, reindeers and gingerbread man.

For starters, look out for the giant Christmas snow globe (Complimentary access for all flight ticket holders), set right in the heart of Singapore Flyer’s terminal. Enter into its wintery wonderland of fairy lights and cascading snowflakes. Who knows, you might just bump into Santa!

Afterwards, hop onto Singapore Flyer’s special Christmas-themed capsules and let the adventures begin. 165 meters into the skies, the magical cityscape view of Marina Bay is simply breathtaking. While you’re on-board, participate in the “Spot, Snap and Win” contest. Simply look out for a Singapore Flyer character and snap to redeem a souvenir. Witness the world’s largest Giant Observation wheel taking on a new role as Singapore’s tallest Christmas tree. Don’t say we didn’t tell you to get your cameras ready!

For those who like a drink or two while enjoying the superb view, the world’s first Full-Butler Sky dining experience is at your service. Indulge in a glass of Champagne, Signature Cocktail or the original Singapore Sling from the festive menus onboard.

If you’re intending to take your family to the Singapore Flyer on the weekends, your child will get to enjoy a kid’s fun pack and goodie hamper. So have a magical Christmas – a season that dazzles like no other, right at the Singapore Flyer.

Be dazzled at Christmas by the bay at Singapore’s luxurious waterfront – the Marina Bay. Themed “Christmas Alive at Marina Bay”, the waterfront arena truly comes alive with dramatic art, light and musical installations. With a focus on nurturing young artistic and musical talents and fund-raising charity events, these year-end celebrations are brimming with meaningful activities in the spirit of the season.

And how could we forget the famous icons associated with the wintery tale? From the famous Helix bridge, Millenia Walk, One Fullerton Clifford Square, One Raffles Quay and to the Singapore Flyer, catch the multi-sensory reindeers thronging the streets.

Hop over to either Suntec City Mall to enjoy the serenading Choir Christmas Tree, The Esplanade to admire the Art Installation Hollow Tree or Marina Square to take a whiff of the Cone Trees displayed. Or simply just take a wonderful evening stroll under the twinkling fairy lights and snowflakes along thoroughfares of Raffles City,
Millenia Walk, the Singapore Flyer and The Fullerton Hotel.

Alongside these creative festivities and fund-raising charity events, Celebrate Christmas in Singapore (CCIS), an effort by the local Christian community, will also be putting up their own yuletide performances mainly during the weekends at four locations –Marina Square, The Flyer, Suntec Singapore and One Raffles Quay.

And on Dec. 24, don’t miss out on the two-hour special by a 60-strong international choir, right on the steps of Marina Square Shopping Mall.
