ANGERANG: The Tangerang city water company (PDAM) Tirta Benteng announced on Sunday that two Middle East companies were ready to supply clean water for Tangerang residents this year.
Bahrain-based company PT Moya Indonesia and Lebanon-based company PT Metito, planned to invest between Rp 1.5 trillion (US$165 million) and Rp 2 trillion in the project, said PDAM Tirta Benteng president director Achmad Marju Kodri.
“PT Moya Indonesia and PT Metito are two of many companies willing to invest in water supplies in Tangerang. We are about to choose which one is the best,” he said, adding that his company targeted to sign the contract this month.
Kodri said that the soon-to-be-chosen company would build the water processing factory and the pipelines.
“The company will process the clean water. We will buy the company’s water and distribute it to the Tangerang residents,” he said.
Kodri hoped the project could help PDAM Tirta Benteng to serve 60 percent of its consumers.
