JAKARTA: Dubai-based airline Emirates says it will expand its European service with flights to Barcelona, Spain, and Lisbon, Portugal, in July
AKARTA: Dubai-based airline Emirates says it will expand its European service with flights to Barcelona, Spain, and Lisbon, Portugal, in July.
“Judging from our success in opening service to Madrid last year, we are highly optimistic about the new routes, respectively our 30th and 31st destinations in Europe,” Emirates Indonesia manager Mohammed Al-Nahari said on Thursday.
The Spanish destinations were expected to attract Muslim and Catholic pilgrimage tourists, as the nation is rich with heritage buildings, Emirates marketing and sales manager Ilonka Leiwakabessy said.
Emirates will serve Barcelona with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft that seat 360 passengers, while the Portuguese capital will be served by Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
Leiwakabessy said that Europe and the US remain the favorite destinations of Indonesian travelers. Emirates serves its Jakarta – Dubai route twice a day with an average load factor of 75 to 80 percent, the company said.
