he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) announced on Saturday that the final voters’ list for the upcoming gubernatorial election comprised the names of 6,983,692 people and 15,059 polling stations across the capital.
KPU Jakarta chairwoman Dahliah Umar said the final voters’ list (DPT) was compiled from lists of voters in the capital’s five municipalities and one regency.
“These lists have gone through rechecking and revision from the preliminary voters’ list that we announced earlier in April,” Dahliah said in a plenary meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the Jakarta office of the Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) and members of the gubernatorial candidates’ campaign teams.
At the meeting, Panwaslu instructed the KPU to make a late revision and add names to the list, pushing the meeting to late in the evening.
On the preliminary list of voters, the poll body had recorded a total of 7,044,991 voters and 15,972 polling stations.
The approved candidates are incumbent Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo and running mate Nachrowi Ramli, Hidayat Nur Wahid and economist Didik J. Rachbini, Surakarta Mayor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin and Nono Sampono, and independents Faisal Basri and Biem Benjamin, and Hendardji Soepandji and Ahmad Riza Patria.
A number of members from the campaign teams, however, protested the final voters’ list, saying the poll body had failed to address the rampant irregularities when revising the list.
Selamat Nurdin, a member of the campaign team for Hidayat-Didik, said his team still found more than 328,000 names with unclear identification numbers listed.
“We will report this to Panwaslu, the City Council and the House of Representatives,” Selamat said.
Deni Iskandar, a member of the Jokowi-Basuki team, claimed 175,000 ineligible voters — referred to by many as “ghost voters” — were listed.
“The poll body can go on with the announcement on the list, but we have filed a report with the National Police over this. If it we are later proven correct, the list will be [declared] illegal,” he said.
The Jokowi-Basuki campaign team has reported Population and Civil Registration Agency chief Purba Hutapea for alleged violations concerning the list of potential voters, which was submitted to the KPU Jakarta in January.
Aminullah, the poll body’s head of voter data collection, said the campaign teams’ objections would be noted and attached to the voters’ list.
“Citizens were given ample time to report if their names were not listed on the preliminary list.”
Voting day for the election has been scheduled for July 11. The official campaigning period will begin on June 24 and last two weeks.
DPT listed voters:
Thousand Islands Regency 16,335
Central Jakarta 791,063
North Jakarta 1,166,078
West Jakarta 1,503,434
South Jakarta 1,511,035
East Jakarta 1,996,747
