Music, movies and, of course, moves, came from various parts of Indonesia and beyond for the 11th Indonesia Dance Festival, which ran from June 1 to 9 in Jakarta.
The events involved prominent local names, such as Eko Supriyanto and Danang Pamungkas, as well as international performers from Japan, Germany, Vietnam and France.
However, this year it also became a platform for budding talents to showcase their works and polish their skills through a dance competition and a choreography workshop.
Dozens of dancers from across the archipelago came to Jakarta to participate in the finals of the dance competition in April, and the three winners got to showcase their work during the festival’s “Seeds of Wonder” sessions.

The Indonesia Dance Festival is held every two years, but its organizers said there would be a chance
for activities involving the nurturing of new talent to be held every year, as they said that the response for the dance competition revealed that there was more enthusiasm for dance in Indonesia than they were expecting.
