AKARTA: Dewa 19 front man, Ahmad Dhani, has shocked fans with the announcement that he will momentarily disband the group.
The heartbreaking news was shared after a concert on Wednesday night to celebrate Dhani’s 40th birthday as well as commemorate his 20 years working as a musician.
“I will not continue Dewa. I don’t know, maybe someday,” he told tempo.co early Thursday.
The band has been on hiatus since last year after vocalist Once left the band to pursue a solo career. Once was following in the steps of Ari Lasso, the band’s previous vocalist.
Dhani said he would not search for a new singer for the band, which was popular in the 1990s.
During the concert, Ari, Once and other top artists performed.
