AKARTA: The Health Ministry has banned nine companies owned by graft convict and former Democratic Party treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin from taking part in government projects.
“We issue this ban following a recommendation from the Supreme Audit Agency [BPK],” Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi said on Monday.
The recommendation was one of 42 points the BPK sent to the ministry. Nafsiah said that her office had already followed through with 37 of them.
According to the results of a BPK audit, these companies are suspected of markups in the procurement of goods and services, which resulted in Rp 600 billion (US$62.9 million) in state losses. The companies worked with the ministry in building a bird flu vaccine plant.
The companies are PT Anugrah Nusantara, PT Mahkota Negara, PT Alfindo Nuratama Perkasa, PT Nuratindo Bangun Perkasa, PT Citra Dua Permata, PT Taruna Bakti Persada, PT Gexacom Intranusa, PT Buana Romasari Gemilang and PT Digo Mitra Slogan.
