Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo claimed he did not say the Jaran Kepang or Jathilan (bamboo horse dance) was the worst art form in the world; apparently, he was criticizing the group that performed the dance instead.

“Jathilan is fine; it was just the group that performed it last night [that was not],” Bibit said on Monday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Your comments:

What is the difference? He is hurting the dancer group with his comments. A man in his position should use his words better. He should keep what he feels to himself and tell the Magelang mayor in private so that nobody else has to hear.

The dance group did their best to entertain the audience. After this, it’s easy to understand why development makes such slow progress in remote areas when their leaders, for the most part, don’t encourage their people to do anything.
